Quick History: Before I converted my characters and surface patterns into cute greeting cards and licensed artwork – A Dinky World started out as a comic strip that I wanted to syndicate to the newspapers – which you can read more about on the meet Hilary page.

The Premise: A Dinky World is an advanced society that’s realized the richness of life is found in small things and simple pleasures.

On A Dinky World:

1. Everyday life can often intrude; it’s not always idyllic, but returning to simple entertainments and hobbies and relying on the kindness and friendship of others makes this manageable – it’s known as “The Dinky Way.”

2. It’s a world that looks rural, but its residents have advanced technology for convenience, such as interactive house A.I.s and worker “Swarms,” that handle the heavy outdoor work in order to leave more time to relish life and appreciate its uncomplicated joys.

3. House A.I.s have distinct personalities and opinions and residents can be browbeaten by their A.I.s from time to time.

4. The plants are sentient and talk back.

5. There are “Sky Skimmers” that use anti-grav disks for personal transportation, but they can malfunction – see meet the residents.

6. New inventions may blow up.
